And these days, what makes us feel more feelings than nostalgia? So with the ultimate goal of boosting moods heading into 2022, we decided to really take them back…

We Made You a Mixtape!!!
We managed to record some of our favorite 1980s hits onto actual cassette tapes. We got some cassette players too, because we knew not every recipient would have the technology to actually listen to them.
Pass This Note
The “greeting card” had the look of something we made at our desks while the teacher wasn’t looking. And we included a xeroxed photo of some of our favorite 80s icons on the reverse side of the note as an added bonus.
Ballpoint pen doodle designs and copywriting are by yours truly. Highlighter marker lettering is by Bart Kibbe.
The Goodie Box
Then the really fun part started, and it involved tapping into our inner middle/high-schoolers. The mixtape sleeves got the highlighter-drawn treatment (by Bart Kibbe), and we threw some truly retro stickers into the package so that the recipients could continue the fun.

I also created a version of the gift that could be enjoyed via email and Instagram, linking to a Spotify playlist of an extended Totally 80s Awesome Mix.
